Odense. Denmark

POEM:

On the barren ground

still cold from the ice

I built my home.

Under the stars I danced

whilst the moon whispered the stories of my ancestors

and of how it all began.

Pre-viking Scandinavia is becoming more and more interesting to me and there is so much to learn. According to legend, the Viking city of Odense was home to Odin and they say that humans have lived in the area for over 4000 years. Some even believe that Odin once existed. Knowing that pre-Christian Scandinavians worshipped their ancestors, to me it does not seem too far-fetched in some ways, if he indeed once walked this earth. The first-known Scandinavian was found just outside Odense and dated to around 8,000 BC. I often daydream about going back in time and being an invisible witness to my ancestors settling in Scandinavia. Who were they? What were they like? Regardless of what we know or do not know about our origin, the Moon always knows...
